Blow your own

Old Bike Australasia - - CONTENTS -

I have to tell you how much I enjoy the magazine, especially the C11 article! (OBA 42). I started off on my 16th birthday on a C10 (in England 1963) with my mate John Ford on his C10. I’d left school and that summer we did many miles around the Cotswolds and beyond. The sense of freedom was amazing and you didn’t have to pedal! When the motor blew my father got me a C11 motor to put in. We did minor go-faster mods to the bikes but mostly ‘café racer’ style. After I passed my test I got an old G9 Matchless which I rebuilt with a G80 motor. This was my ride for the next few years and with a dustbin fairing I acquired and a TT carb, surprised many of my friends on their Bonnevilles. The attached photo is not my bike but very similar. I’m currently enjoying my Buell XB12S, the original hooligan bike, which has yet to rate a mention in your magazine, maybe too new? Even with the Primitive HD derived motor.
