All British Rally at Newstead
Over three days commencing Friday the 25 April the BSA Motorcycle Owners Club of Victoria conducted the 38th annual running of the All British Rally. This year there were approximately 1,000 people passing through the gate with about 700 machines present.
This is a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, however you do need warm clothing as the only accommodation available is your tent or caravan. However with plenty of camp fires going the yarns and versions of past events just got better and further embellished from that which was told last year. The vast range of machines present shows just how much the collecting and restoration of British machines has grown in recent years. Good also to see a number of bikes that were left in the patina state and in some cases the riders dressed appropriate to that era.
The Saturday ride was again up to Maldon, with machines occupying the entire main street which is blocked off to provide ample parking. The rally is held the same time each year at Newstead. For those with British machines who may wish to participate next year keep an eye on the website www.bsa.asn.au or contact Nigel Green (03) 9437 2972 or Andrew Hosemans 0402 840 018. See you next issue, Pete
