Queensland Museum moves
The Australian Motorcycle Museum, established at Haigslea, Queensland, in 2007 by Allen and Lorraine Smith, is on the move. For the past seven years, Allen and Lorraine have managed to run the museum seven days a week, plus find time for overseas trips to acquire new stock for the museum and for general sale. That workload has taken its toll and the Smiths will soon be moving into a new home in Brisbane, where they will retain the majority of the current stock of 300 bikes as a private collection. Some of the current exhibits will be sold, including the Forcycle Ducati GT750 raced by Peter Muir, the ex-Jack Dillon Harley WLA, and the ex-Keith Campbell 500cc Manx Norton. The ‘big bike’ sculpture, built by Ted Goddard which was featured in OBA 36, is still for sale. Contact Allen on 07 5464 4916.
