Les Moore

-

I read with interest about Ronnie Moore in OBA 44, and I have a few photos of his father Les which came from my father and the collection of my ‘uncle’ Allan McDougall. Les Moore competed at the very first speedway meeting in Hobart at Northall Park, Albert Road Moonah on 16th November, 1929. Riding a Rudge Les won the second heat of the A Grade Race, beating Rex Powell’s BSA. Rex was the man to beat at this time and was also a top beach racer and long distance rider, holding the motorcycle and sidecar record from Hobart to Launceston; 123 miles in 2 hours 19 minutes with Percy Bryant in the sidecar, set on 1st October, 1929.
