Seminal Vespa
Here is a photo (above) of Sam Jamieson on the first Vespa in Australia. As owner and director, with his brothers, of the airline Guinea Air Traders, he bought migrants, including from Italy, into Australia before the Commonwealth enforced the rule that only the Commonwealth carrier could do so. There was a famous stand off at Darwin airport over Jamieson bringing in migrants, which ultimately led to the airline being fined. The photo from 1948 shows Jamieson sitting on the first Vespa in front of one of his planes. Peter Shannon Taree, NSW
