Bonanza 2015 celebrates Bathurst – and British!

With the embers from the campfires at this year’s record-busting Penrite Broadford Bonanza still warm, Motorcycling Australia has announced the themes for the 2015 event, to be held at Easter, April 4-5. The event will celebrate 50 Years of Easter Bathurst 1938-1988, featuring famous machines and riders from what was Australia’s premier event. Chairman of the MA Museum & Heritage Committee, David White said, “I think it is fair to say that the Broadford Bonanza has established itself as an event now firmly associated with Easter, so we thought it time to pay tribute to what was, for half a century, another iconic Easter event. There are many significant bikes with Bathurst history still around, in fact we have several in our own collection, and we are hopeful that quite a number of the former Bathurst competitors will be able to attend. I don’t mean just top line riders either, because Bathurst was equally famous for the Clubman and graded races which often saw some ingenious home-spun motorcycles.” Alongside the Bathurst theme, the 2015 Bonanza will celebrate the Rickman Metisse marque – in both dirt and road forms – plus “Cottage Industry” British makes such as Cheney, Seeley, Spondon, Wasp, Hagon, Godden and so on. The Broadford complex will receive new spectator facilities at the road race circuit and an extended natural terrain scrambles track which proved so popular this year.
