Motorcycle Transfer Graphics

-

Recently, at the Pine Rivers Swap (now located near Samford), I met Jim Allen. He is a collector of early rigid twin Triumphs and BSA Bantams, however his occupation prior to retiring was as a Graphic Artist. Around 2000 he decided to mix his work skills with his motorcycle interests and produce original looking petrol tank and other stickers, decals, logos, lettering and front number plate graphics which would be crucial in the restoration process. He advises me that he can custom create any image – “it’s only limited by one’s imagination” – preferably using an original image supplied by the client. He is able to faithfully reproduce any original type of transfer or graphic with the use of computers. These usually come with a gloss UV protective coat, however they are available without a clear coat if the end user wishes to clear coat the item afterwards. The costs can vary depending on the size of the sticker or whether it’s a common type or a one-off special. A double-sided graphic for a bike front number plate would cost $40 + postage, for example. He is able to produce stickers with multi coloured graphics which will come with a coloured background as required. He can also produce vinyl cut lettering etc for applications direct to backgrounds so they appear to look like water slide transfers – however, vinyl cut graphics are restricted to around two colours and about 10mm lettering height. Jim can be contacted on (07) 3379 2133 or 0412 246 905 or email at realizm@bigpond.net.au See you next issue, Pete
