“Memories of the Ekka”
– some explanations.
From LINDSAY NIXON, Mooloolaba Qld... After looking at the group photo (above) in OBA 46 on page 84 it brought back a few memories. The years 1952 to 1953 would be pretty accurate but sad to say most have passed on. The other group photo (below right) is the British team that was in Brisbane for the second test match in 1952. The first two are unknown to me but the third rider is Gordon McGregor (Motherwell Eagles) then Jack Parker and Bert Roger. The full team that came out to Australia that year was Jack Parker, Cyril Roger, Jimmy Gooch, Gordon McGregor, Arthur Bush, Mal Craven, Ron Mountford and Bert Roger. The bottom photo on the page is Jack Parker and the one above I am pretty sure is Bonny Waddell. Hoping that some of these memories will be of some help to Garry Edgar.
Standing in the back row L to R: Jack Waddell, Les Todd, Merv Andrews, Keith Cox, Keith Blichaski, unknown. Front row L to R: Myself (Lindsay Nixon), Bonnie Waddell, Col Andrews, Lindsay Goostrey, George Davis.
