Lingo lessons

-

I loved David Barker’s Lingo-Gistics ( OBA 46, Letters), it a pet hate of mine; we have the same wording this side of the world mostly Americanisms. Headers, cans, pegs, kick stand, and one that really bugs me is triple trees, now I assume that’s fork yokes but have never seen a motorcycle with more than two! I also hate the word Biker, to me that’s push bikes; mine are powered so that’s “Motorcycle and Motorcyclists”. I will however allow you “Bike” in your title as it is the best magazine out there dealing in all things related to motorcycling, I cant wait for the next issue..... Another thing that gripes me is the demise of the mudguard on modern motorcycles. The front ones are getting shorter and in wet weather throw all the crap onto the front of the engine. Some are so short as to throw crud up into the lower steering head races, then they neatly channel the water and muck down the fork leg and onto the brake callipers.
