2015 Broadford Bonanza!

Henderson Matchless headlines

-

The 2015 Penrite Broadford Bonanza celebrates 50 years of the Easter Bathurst races 1938-1988, and one of the most iconic and successful machines from this period will be on display over the weekend. The Henderson Matchless, built by Tony Henderson and ridden by Ron Toombs, began as a 2-valve Matchless G50 engine in a Norton chassis and evolved into a 60+horsepower, fourvalve single in a special lightweight frame that in the hands of the Mountain Master Toombs was an incredible weapon. In the 1970 Bathurst Grand Prix, Toombs faced new lap record holder Kenny Blake on the H1R Kawasaki, but when the two stroke shed its chain, Ron and the green machine sailed away to a momentous win – the last for a big single at the circuit. Easter at Broadford will see a host of famous bikes and personalities that played a part in the Bathurst legend, and Alan Cathcart will again be on hand to conduct interviews at the Gala Dinner on Saturday night. Entries are now open for Easter’s big event and can be downloaded from the Motorcycling Australia web site: www.ma.org.au
