died on 19th September 2014, aged 94. He was married to Edna for 73 years, had two daughters, two sons-in-law, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill will be remembered by the motorcycling fraternity, especially in Wollongong for his racing successes at Shepherd’s Oval, Monkey Flats, and other venues. He was a formidable rider on the dirt and also a strong competitor in road races. For some years, he was the B.S.A. and Suzuki dealer in Corrimal. When the B.S.A. Golden Flash was introduced in 1952, he raced one at Bathurst in the sidecar class and removed the sidecar to race in the Unlimited Grand Prix at the end of the day, finishing third. In the 1950s, ‘60s, and ‘70s, he was also an entrant for Kevin Cass, among others, and his road racing Bantam is displayed in the National Motor Racing Museum at Bathurst. He and Clem Daniel were great friends and rival entrants in the 125 cc class, both supporting riders on Bantams until Clem acquired an M.V. Agusta. Bill was a fairly private bloke, but very well liked in the motorcycling fraternity. He was also the local A.C.U. accredited engineer who measured engines of place-getters following the Bathurst meetings.
