Cruising the Clarence

Grafton Classic Rally

- Report Terry Ryan Photos Holty

29-31 August, 2014 – Grafton, NSW

The Clarence Valley Historic & Enthusiasts MCC held another successful rally with a good roll up of visitors and locals. The weather was perfect after some heavy rain in the days preceding caused a quick change in the rally route due to local flooding closing some roads. On Friday afternoon we had an enjoyable ride out on the Old Glen Innes Road and returned to a sausage sizzle at the Grafton showground which was rally headquarters. Saturday morning saw 87 bikes travel to Shannon Creek Dam for morning tea then to Kungala where the Kungala – Lanitza RFS Ladies Auxiliary presented an excellent lunch, handling an extra 20 plus meals more than had been ordered with aplomb. There were several comments that we had raised the bar for rally lunches. The rally dinner was held Saturday evening with an excellent meal at the Grafton District Services Club with the usual award presentation and tombola raffle. Sunday’s ride took us to Kangaroo Creek where the members of the Towallum Park Trust laid on a great morning tea. The club would like to thank our magnificent caterers, our many sponsors, particularly Shannons, and of cause our visitors who make it all worthwhile.
