Half century celebrated

-

FEBRUARY 7, 2015 was the date that the Newcastle Vintage Motorcycle Club notched up their half century, and the venue was Club Macquarie at Argenton in the heart of the NSW Hunter Valley. Guests were treated to a wonderful evening with Rob Rowe doing a great job as MC, ably assisted by Terry Lewis, and with guest speakers Chris Pickett and OBA’s editor. During the course of the evening life member certificates and special appreciation certificates were issued, and a very tricky trivia quiz conducted. The NVMC had its first meeting on 6th January 1965 at the Northumberland Hotel in Lambton with 15 people present. Ted Ball became the first president and Scotty Sunderland the first secretary. Since then the club has grown strongly and today celebrates motorcycling in all its forms; from veteran to the more modern eras. On Sunday 8 February, club members gathered at Morpeth for a well-supported Girder Fork Ride, the first of four rides to be conducted during 2015.
