31st All British Day

Old Bike Australasia - - RALLY REPORTS - Report and photos Ray Goulter and Colin Behn

8 February, 2015 – Echunga, SA

If anybody in the organising committee had sat down and penned a wish for perfect weather for the 31st All British Day held at Echunga showgrounds they could not have got it better. The displays were spread over two separate adjoining ovals. There was plenty of free parking in a farmer’s paddock across the road and parking was well organised and controlled by the Country Fire Service, as was the control of people moving from the parking paddock, across the road, to the showgrounds entrance. Admission price was a sensible $8 for an adult. A forecast by the Bureau of Meteorology of 30 degrees in Adelaide meant the temperature in the Adelaide Hills would be a few degrees cooler. Bright sunshine with minimum cloud for the entire day bode well for the attendance, and the organisers must have been very pleased with the result. This event just grows bigger every year and it’s going to be difficult to find a new venue that will hold the yearly increasing number of exhibits and vehicles on show. The number of car exhibits is far greater than the motorcycles, but the British motorcycle marques were well represented. Motorcycle Clubs exhibiting included the Vintage & Veteran MCC, the Velocette Owners Club of Aust. (joined in with the V&VMCC), the BSA Owners Club, and the Norton Owners Club (which took out the Best Motor Cycle Club display). It was interesting to hear about the technical side of the Scott motors and what to use for
