Morgan 3 Wheeler. Back to the future.

-

By Peter Dron Published by Veloce 144 pages hard cover RRP: $99.99 Available from Pitstop (1800 622422) and Autobook World (02) 9231 6713 Rather than a marque history, this book deals primarily with the re-invention of the Morgan 3 wheeler – a real back to the future story. Most of us are familiar with the original Morgans (which ceased production in 1939) with their JAP, Anzani and Matchless V-twin engines poking out the front, and a pair of raspy exhaust pipes poking out the rear. These were vehicles for the wind-inyour-face mob, best driven with a cloth cap and a silk scarf. Morgan went into four wheels and forgot about the trikes until 2011, when the new 3 Wheeler, powered by a 1983cc S&S engine, took the Geneva Motor Show by storm, resulting in a flood of orders. Tis book follows the events leading up to that launch and examines in detail not just the Morgan, but similar three-wheelers like the aborted VW CX3 and the American Liberty Ace. If you can’t afford the Aust$90,000 for the vehicle, the book itself is beautifully produced and an interesting read.
