Entries out for Mallala

-

Entries are now open for the Australian Historic Road Race Championships to be held at Mallala Motorsport Park, South Australia, from 8th-11th Oct 2015. August 21st is the closing date for entries which can be accessed at www.historicmotorcycleracing.org.au or the MA website. Isle of Man TT winner and current Australian P5 Unlimited Champion Cameron Donald is among the entries already received. Danny Ahern, spokesman for the hosts, the Historic Motor Cycle Racing Register of SA, said Cameron, who is a keen historic racer and Norton brand ambassador, had made a commitment to be a strong part of the event and will be a special guest. “Cam will be racing in a couple of classes, just a month on from his Manx GP/Classic TT events at the Isle of Man, so he will be in form,” said Ahern.

“There is no doubt that with good racing and quality machinery it is a cracker complex to come along and take in the racing. The event has not been run at Mallala since 2002 and many that have competed here are champing at the bit to get back. The complex has seen many improvements and now has 100 powered garages.” Ahern said the hosts were going out of their way to make sure entrants get as much track time as possible. “Even with the sup regs only being out a few weeks, the entry rate has been very positive with good early entries from the farthest away, WA, Tasmania and New Zealand,” said Ahern. Off track activities are to include a display of some TZ exotica being put together by Mal Pitman, former MotoGP engineer and current Patron of the HMRRSA. Event ambassador Daryl Beattie will also attend in between his MotoGP commentating commitments.

“Enquiries have been answered from people far away looking to make a holiday of it and come down to SA in October,” said Ahern. “It could be a stop-off for travellers on the way to the Phillip Island MotoGP and it also coincides with a planned major historic car and motorcycle event in central Adelaide a week later.”
