Old Bike Australasia

Still they come

GARY CROTON spied something very interesting recently:

On 22nd May I was driving through a roundabout in Wangaratta, Victoria when a car and bike trailer went past in the opposite direction. I nearly dislocated my neck when I saw that on the trailer was an original, unrestored, stored-in-a-shed for 30 years, Vincent Series C. To cut a long story short, I risked being a stalker and followed the bike. Turned out it is owned by a Tim Bodinarr, and Tim was headed to Ken Lucas’ place, who is going to tidy the bike up for him. The essence of the story is that Tim’s father bought the bike new (amongst many other delectable bikes). Tim’s Dad took the bike to Shadow specifications and (albeit very briefly) held an Australian Land Speed record on the bike. It has been sitting in the shed for 30 years, complete and untouched. Ken’s view was just clean it up, start it up and ride it and he planned to have it on display at the annual Winton Historic meeting.
