A year out!
Your story on Adelaide International Raceway (OBA 52) brought back memories for me. The first Advertiser Three Hour Race was in fact held in 1972 (not 1973 as the article stated). I had kept the newspaper reports especially because my photo was in the paper! Colin Daddow’s Trident was fast; I can honestly say no-one passed me in the middle hour while I was riding, but we did lose time in the pits with a loose right footrest and I think the points closed their gaps a little near the end of the race, losing some pace. I think we were eventually given 6th place on lap recount. The race was also held in 1973. I was teamed to ride with Ivan “Snowy” Ardill but ended up in hospital instead with a broken leg etc. sustained at AIR in practice for the race, but that’s another story. Snowy also broke a leg at AIR in a later meeting. David Kernich South Australia
