More than 200 people attended the Gala Dinner to mark the centenary of the St George Motor Cycle Club, held at the Novotel, Brighton-Le-Sands near Sydney Airport. The club began in 1915, with meetings held in Sib Corner’s Garage in Tempe, and grew to become one of the largest and most active clubs in the country. MC for the evening was Brendan Jones, the ‘Jonesy’ half of the highly successful morning radio team Jonesy & Amanda (Keller). A keen motorcyclist, Jones introduced various people associated with the club’s history, including motocross legend Steven Gall and club president Steve Wyers. Club stalwart Jan Blizzard, who had done much of the organisation for the event, was taken seriously ill on the day prior to the dinner, but released from hospital in the care of her family so she could make a short appearance.
