W1 in white

Regular contributor MAURICE AUSTIN unearthed this interesting photo (above), further to the Kawasaki W1/2 story in OBA some time back. “The Kawasaki W story brought back some memories. I remember the 500cc version that McGan & Miller had and a mate Ron Heywood had an ex Police W1 in white. This photo of his bike was taken in Lonsdale St Melbourne in the early 1980’s. I remember that Toorak Village Motorcycles appeared to have the Dealership at the time that the Victoria Police had some and saw a dismantled engine in their workshop. Internals looked beautiful! A comment was made that the admirably thin valve seat width whilst efficient was not so good for long service intervals.”
