24 Hour memories

-

I have just read your very well presented story of the Mount Druitt 24 Hour races in ‘54/’55. It was of great interest to me and very nostalgic to see the array of photos of so many of my old friends, sadly, so many not with us today. I actually rode in one of the two events as a rider for Bill Mahler on a 125cc Puch. One other team member was Ron Fitzhenry but I cannot recall the third member. Jack Ehret was in the Mahler team and rode a 250cc Puch with two others. We did finish the race but I’m not sure about our placing. It was a long time ago! I enjoyed many exciting years in the sport and also the trade, later spending 10 years with A.P. North and Co. I am told that I am the last surviving foundation member of the Vintage Motorcycle Club of Australia. So many memories of those years as I wonder who is still with us who rode in those Mt Druitt races. It would be great to hear from them! John Mola Mb: 0423869475 Em: jmola@westnet.com.au
