Wakefield’s 40th anniversary meeting gathers pace
The race meeting to mark the 40th anniversary of All Historic Racing, to be held at Goulburn’s Wakefield Park on September 17/18, is shaping up to be a very special weekend. Organiser Matthew Baragwanath from Wakefield Park Raceway says that since entry forms went on, he has received enquiries from all over Australia, with very notable historic bikes and cars ready to compete. Above all, he says this will be a ‘warm and friendly’ event, with no protests, low cost entry fees, and the best officials in Australia. Matthew also says, “It is hoped that this All Historic meeting at Wakefield Park will be the start of a renaissance of historic racing and will pave the way for more rider and driver-focussed events.” The motorcycle side of the program will see events for Period 1, 2 and 3 solos and sidecars, with all riders having at least three races over the weekend. Motorcycle coordinator Rob Rowe says, “The sidecar field will be dominated by the Victorians with the Triumphs and Vincents of various members of the Large family competing against a strong field of other pre-1963 outfits. The Hand Change chargers of Class C will have the track to themselves for a feature event of Harleys and Indians. Solo machines will race in groups that give each rider a chance to have fun without looking over his shoulder for someone lapping him. Riders with special machines that do not want to race can take part in the Ride Day event to ride in a non-competitive manner.” For entry forms and more details, contact the Wakefield Park Raceway office on (02) 4822 2811 or email racesecre[email protected]fieldpark.com.au.
