Big bucks for a Montgomery
At the Mossgreen Collectors’ cars, motorcycles and memorabilia auction held in Melbourne on 19th June, a 1929 Montgomery – JAP V-twin realized $63,250 including buyers premium. The old timer was purchased by a Melbourne collector in a dismantled state and underwent a nut and bolt restoration using all original parts with the exception of the timing cover. The frame, engine and forks are matching and correct for the year. The big twin made a surprise appearance at the 2016 All British Rally where it covered 500km without missing a beat. The photograph here is by Ron Weste and was taken at the rally.
