European vacation
Frequent OBA contributor Grant Barrett has just returned from a holiday in Italy and Switzerland. Here are a few of his observations: The Maserati motorcycle and the Lambretta “land speed record scooter” are in a large private collection belonging to Umberto Panini near Modena (why is Modena so famous?) in Northern Italy. There are more than 20 Maserati cars plus other cars including a “gull wing” Mercedes Benz. On the mezzanine floor, there are around 50 – 60 motorcycles. This museum is located at a Parmesan Cheese dairy – true, and viewing is free. Well worth a visit for anyone going to Modena! www.paninimotormuseum.it/index.php The Harley Davidson was seen in Lucerne, Switzerland. I don’t know much about Harleys (is it a knuckle head?), but this custom creation looked interesting, note the “fuel gauge” on the RHS of the tank! Anyone who has visited Switzerland will know that everything there is expensive; but a Porsche Cayenne taxi? True! It was seen in Interlaken.
