Recently, well known collector and club stalwart Denis Tobler invited members of the Illawarra Classic Motorcycle Club to his property in Robertson in the picturesque NSW Southern Highlands. The club put on a sausage sizzle and other refreshments, and around 50 people turned out for a peek into Denis’ spacious shed, which houses many desirable cars, trucks and motorcycles. In 2012, Denis rode a 1909 Triumph outfit from Perth to Sydney as part of the celebrations to mark 100 years since the original West-East Moto Crossing of Australia. The outfit, as well as the 1918 Triumph Model H solo ridden by Denis’ son in the same event, were on display. Club spokesman Gordon Gregory said the turnout far exceeded expectations. “We would like to thank Denis for this opportunity,” said Gordon. “It’s rare to see such a fabulous collection as this, and I know our members really appreciate it.”
