By sheer coincidence this book arrived to coincide with our feature story on the Triumph Trophy in this issue. This is an extremely comprehensive coverage that traces the lineage of what became the TR5 back to the wartime 350 twin first produced in 1940. The handsome and functional TR5 went on to many post war successes in the ISDT and domestic events, being refined into a swinging arm model in 1953. That ISDT heritage continued with the introduction of the 650cc TR6 and reached its epoch in the form of the TR5T, a Triumph/BSA hybrid that carried the British team in 1973. The book thoroughly traces the technical development of all these models as well as the roadster Trophies that remain immensely collectable machines today. There is also a colour chart listing the factory finishes for each year, a valuable source of information for the restorer. The author Harry Woolridge knows his stuff, having worked at Triumphs for thirty years, including at the Meriden Co-operative as Warranty/Service Manager until its closure in 1983.
