After six months as Acting CEO of Motorcycling Australia, Peter Doyle has been appointed full time to the role. The son of motorcycling doyen Neville Doyle, Peter has had a wide and varied career, including the management of Grand Prix teams, plus 14 years coaching and managing teams in the USA. Acting MA President Peter Goddard said he and the MA Board were very pleased to formalise Mr Doyle’s position at the head of the organisation. “Mr Doyle’s experience across the sport and industry are second to none and we are all very fortunate to have him on the handlebars of Motorcycling Australia to guide our passion, sport and its controlling bodies into a new era,” he said. Peter Doyle said that MA had made some good progress over recent months but plenty remained to be accomplished. “There have been a lot of changes – to the Board, staff and our relationship with the State bodies – all of which were long overdue. Motorcycling in this country has some way to go before we reach the levels of professionalism that other sports enjoy, but I am confident that we are on the path now to achieve that goal. I would like to thank the industry for their support in this decision and for their patience in recent months. The great thing is that we are all extremely passionate, so we are all striving for the same goal – to promote the sport we love.” Mr Doyle said the focus of the next few months would be around insurance, governance and communication.
