Classic Clarence ride

Grafton Classic Rally

- Report Terry Ryan Photos Holty

26-28 August, 2016 – Grafton, NSW

The Clarence Valley Classic & Enthusiasts MCC has run another successful rally with the weather being very kind and our entrants enjoying good rides and good company. Friday afternoon saw us leave rally base at Grafton Showground for a leisurely ride to Newbold Lookout to check out the view over the upper reaches of the Clarence River. The ride had a couple of incidents that could have ended in grief, Bob Cooper’s Black Shadow derailed the chain, locking up the rear wheel at speed, and Elijah Martin’s BWM R52/2 nipped up the front wheel bearings, fortunately both riders were able to keep control of their bikes. We returned to base for a meet and greet and sausage sizzle. On Saturday morning 104 bikes left base to travel alongside the Clarence, over the river on the Bluff Point ferry at Lawrence then on to Ashby for morning tea followed by entrants choice judging and lunch at Yamba Bowling Club. The Saturday night dinner was at Grafton District Services Club where we were looked after with an excellent meal and held the usual presentations and tombola raffle. On Sunday morning a good number of entrants rode to Wooli to take part in the annual Kids With Cancer weekend that the Wooli community put on, after which it was time to say our goodbyes. The club would like to thank our sponsors, particularly Shannons Insurance, and all the entrants and club members who combined to make a great weekend.
