The first Triton

While in UK recently, DENNIS QUINLAN came across this photo of what is undoubtedly the first Triton, resulting from the marriage of a Triumph twin engine and a Norton chassis. This dates from 1939, just one year after the introduction of the Edward Turner Speed Twin engine, and the special was created by ‘Cromie” McCandless, who with his brother Rex later created motorcycling history with their ‘featherbed’ Norton frame. n
