Ivan Mauger collection headlines Bonhams auction
Bonhams Autumn Auction, to be held at Stafford, UK on 15th October, will feature a collection of bikes and memorabilia offered by the family of Ivan Mauger, the 20th century’s most successful speedway rider, with nine World Championships in Speedway and Long track, and more than 1,000 wins in international events in 26 countries. Up for auction will be the 2-valve Jawa on which he won the 1969 World title and the DOHC Jawa that he rode to take the crown in 1977. There is also a 1964 Rotrax-JAP that Ivan rode to numerous successes, a 1972 Jawa chassis which incorporates the engine he used to win the 1972 World Final, the 1971 World Long Track winning Jawa, and a 1965 model ESO speedway bike that was presented to him by the Newcastle Diamonds team. There is also a selection of trophies, helmets and other items associated with Mauger’s glittering career.
