Josh Brookes took his first Isle of Man win with vic­tory in the Se­nior Clas­sic TT, held over four laps of the iconic 60 km circuit. Brooks rode the Team Win­field 500cc Pa­ton twin to the top spot, with a best lap of 11.295 mph. A re­mark­able sec­ond was Brit Jamie Coward on a 500cc Manx Nor­ton, who posted a lap of 110.054 mph – the fastest-ever lap of the TT circuit by a sin­gle cylin­der mo­tor­cy­cle. Later the same day, Kiwi Bruce An­stey shat­tered lap and race records to win the Light­weight Clas­sic TT on a Honda RS250, set­ting the first-ever sub-19 minute lap. He left the mark at 18m47.438secs (120.475 mph) to win eas­ily from fel­low veter­ans Michael Rut­ter and Ian Lougher.
