37th AJSMOC Rally

10-12 November, 2017 – Lake Hume, Albury NSW

The 2017 37th Annual Down Under Jampot Rally for AJS and Matchless enthusiasts went off without a hitch, and those on the organising committee led by George Clarke of Albury can be soundly congratulated. Final touches were handled by David deLapp, with the help of a handful of enthusiastic supporters. Early official registration on Friday was followed by the early evening Meet-N-Greet gathering. Saturday morning muster was called for 8.30am where David deLapp welcomed all entrants giving those riders a briefing of the day’s route, departing at 9.30 for Yackandandah, with the local Ulysses Motorcycle Club Members as our ‘Corner Marshals’. Morning break done with, we were on our way back to the Hume Resort headquarters for lunch at the ‘Pit’. Judging for the various year classes was at the Dam water’s edge. For those with an interest in the swap meet, tables of trinkets were set up adjacent to the ‘Pit’. Total distance for the day’s run was in the vicinity of 120km of fun roads on our older classic machines. The evening’s entertainment and presentation of awards kicked off in the Resort Dining Room where 130 plus Members and others were fed a lovely three-course meal. Through the evening all guests were given a very worthwhile address by Beetle Bailey of the forthcoming crossing of the continent on an early 350cc Royal Enfield to be known as PAMS (Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney) raising much needed funds for Guide Dogs of Australia and Victoria’s Breeding Program. The Awards Presentations for Year Categories was then presented to the successful recipients. Rounding off the evening a short address was given by Brian Kuerschner on arrangements thus far for those expressing an interest in the coming 2020 AJSMOC International Jampot Rally in New Zealand. Sunday morning kicked off at 7.45am with the Annual General Meeting where the Committee was unchanged with the addition on the Team of Donna Maloney from South Australia. Donna and her husband Jason have attended many rallies on their pristine 1950 G80 Matchless. With all riders assembled we were released at 9.30, with our first regroup and photo opportunity at the old Ettamogah Pub. BBQ lunch was taken at the popular SS&A Club in Albury returning to the Hume Resort around 3.30. Winding up the Rally was spent for the final time in the sunken ‘Fire Pit’ where the BBQ was lit up once more.
