Old Bike Australasia

Down home Dixalea

-

I enclose a photo (right) given to me by my Mother-in Law about 40 years ago, from memory it was in the Pix magazine. I am very familiar with the site of the photo “Dixalea”, it used to be a small village in one of the many small cotton farm areas of the Callide Valley in Central Queensland. When I was a teenager the only thing remaining was a community hall where regular popular dances were held, sadly nothing remains now. The Village of Dixalea was named after the American cotton growing area of Dixie. Unfortunately I know nothing about the photo and if you choose to publish it, then maybe one of your readers may be able to enlighten us. I have been a satisfied reader of “Old Bike” since the first copy. Doug Nutley Queensland
