Ken on the cruise

-

Ken Coleman is the man behind the replacement cylinder heads that now adorn hundreds of Norton Commandos world-wide, marketed by his company Fullauto Technologies. Over 230 have been sold with just a single warranty claim. The heads are made in 6061 T6, hardened and pressure tested for porosity – the bugbear of the original Norton components. Casting is done by Harrops in Melbourne. Ken himself is a keen rider and has the first of the production heads fitted to his own Commando, which he rode from Perth to the 2018 Phillip Island Classic in January. “Jim Comstock did the porting on the heads,” Ken says. “The exhaust ports are smaller than standard and the inlets are 32mm and ‘Cobra’ shaped. Mine has a 34mm Mikuni which gives much better torque. It has 46hp at 5,800 rpm and I averaged 65mph from Perth to Melbourne.”
