Inverell Motorcycle Restorers Club 26th Annual Rally
Once again the weekend was filled with sunny days and great riding for the entrants to enjoy the district scenery. The four-day event began on Thursday with riders from as far away as Mackay, Sydney, Brisbane, Coffs Harbour, Sunshine Coast, Central Coast and many inland areas from Inverell. Thursday and Friday attracted over 65 bikes for the shorter rides, especially motorcycles from past eras. On Friday night, entrants were invited to visit the National Transport Museum which was a great experience as the Museum is preparing for the Electric Vehicle Expo and has an excellent variety of exhibits. Saturday, which is the main day, began with our usual big morning tea, and the excellent display for judging at the Pioneer Village prior to the ride, received a crowd to view historic and classic restored bikes from 1927. Featured in the display was an exquisite 1944 Indian Chief with Sidecar and another Indian Scout. Our Rally appeals to so many people because it has never been a “pressured ride”. Mostly they like to take things easy and just enjoy the scenery. Over 200 entrants departed the local Pioneer Village base for the ride through the main street of Inverell past Delungra to the small friendly town of Bingara, where lunch was provided at the local RSL Club. The return ride was via Copeton Dam which is quite low due to the extremely dry period we are experiencing, but it is still a very popular ride for the motorcyclists. Our Presentation Dinner Saturday night was a success, with participants able to catch up on all their adventures over the weekend. It was attended by 136 with the raffle draws, humorous poetry and the presentation of trophies. We are only a small club, but very proud and appreciative of the support we receive locally, to put on such a successful event for the local area. The Pioneer Village is also an added attraction for accommodation and Rally HQ. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year on the weekend 12-14 April 2019.
