Old Bike Australasia

Highs and Lowood

-

Great Lowood article in OBA 72. The great long straight would cause motors to cool and lose power especially on methanol. A few had the fins removed. It was common to get more speed on Dunlop straight. Also there were cut down car tyres embedded in the ground on the inside of the corners which reflected your exhaust note and sounded like they were barking at you like a dog. I never raced there but rode mates’ bikes at numerous practice days. So simple then. Sign an indemnity from the car club that ran the meetings and go for it. No fees or restrictions. Noel Harris.
