Bulli – a great success

Old Bike Australasia - - CLASSIC COB -

Success is not a gift but a standard that is achieved by hard work and careful planning by competent people. The AMCA of Australia weekend at Bulli was what it is because of the way in which it is conducted. At the helm is Tony Blain as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Other members of the board are Mick Johnson, Anthony Gullick, Phil Fordham, John Hagy and Howard Collins. Each of these persons has a specific function and role to supervise and monitor. This includes, swap meet, camping, traffic management, auction, Facebook, web site, general promotion and legal issues. This reminded me of those roles undertaken by members of the Apex Club in a feature I did for OBA about the construction of the Hillview Circuit at Muswellbrook. Last year attendance was just on 3,000 but I am told that this year it was 4,800 with visitors from both North Queensland and New Zealand. These organisers have continued to stress the point that this event is not just for machines of USA origin but all makes and models as long as they are at least 35 years and older, no matter where they were manufactured. My view is that this has quickly become a major motorcycle event in Australasia and will grow even bigger still.

See you next issue, Pete
