6-7 October, 2018 – Wagga Wagga, NSW

A healthy turnout of motorcycles, just on 100, from all eras graced the Apex car park on the side of Lake Albert in perfect weather for the much-anticipated annual ride through the Riverina countryside. Judging took place from 8.45 am before the corner marshals departed, followed at 10am by a long wave of bikes. There were two rides, the long one heading northeast through beautiful mixed farming country. Despite the relentless drought, this area is fairing better than other parts of NSW and it was good to see budding canola crops and healthy calves and lambs on the ground. Following a fuel stop at Adelong, an excellent run with long sweeping corners through the pine forests to the lunch stop at Rosewood was enjoyed by all and then it was back to Apex Park, a distance of 243km. The shorter ride 77km headed to the village of Book Book where lunch was served in the hall then returning to Apex Park. Saturday night’s dinner and presentation of awards took place at the Wagga Wagga Commercial Club. Another brilliant sunny day dawned on Sunday for a combined ride to the historic town of Coolamon, with its heritage-listed main street which the towns folk are clearly proud of. It was a great weekend of riding with good friends and one that’s definitely on the list for the future.
