Grafton Rally

Grafton Classic Rally 24-26 August, 2018 – Grafton NSW

- Report & Photos Terry Ryan

The Clarence Valley Historic & Enthusiasts Motorcycle Club ran its annual rally with the weather forecast looking very ominous. Thankfully, even though we really needed the rain, it held off for the first two days. Friday afternoon saw a good number of riders head off for a shakedown ride to visit the site of Grafton’s new super prison under construction, unfortunately one of the marshal’s bikes (mine) broke down before getting to the allotted intersection resulting in much confusion & a very scattered group, some made it to the gaol site, others ended up at the pub at Ulmarra; strange that. On Saturday morning around 100 bikes left our base at Grafton Showgrounds and rode down to the Glenreagh Mountain Railway shed for morning tea followed by a run to Corindi for lunch and entrants choice judging at the Amble Inn. On Saturday evening we held the presentation dinner at Grafton District Services club where we had, as usual, an excellent buffet meal followed by trophy giving, a tombola raffle and a very difficult trivia quiz. Sunday morning saw the rain set in and only a very small group make their way to Lambruks Gunyah (a very interesting museum on a working farm that processes their own olives & breed cattle, alpacas & goats) for morning tea. We would like to thank our sponsors, all our visitors and our club members who made it all happen.
