Frostbite Rally
Historical Motorcycle Club Qld Frostbite Rally 2018 28-29 July, 2018 – Allora, Qld.
Glorious weather and a good crowd made the 26th Frostbite a great weekend. Saturday morning saw a vast array of tents, motorhomes, caravans and trailer accommodation filling the Allora Showgrounds as members prepared their own little piece of home for the next two days. The afternoon ride took approximately 70 riders on a country cruise over to Clifton where we called in at the Irish pub for a relaxing visit before returning via a different route through farmland to the South West. The drought is very harshly evident through this normally cultivated country with many paddocks now dry and barren. Back at the showgrounds, the atmosphere was very relaxed around the campsites prior to the evening meal which was followed by a shot of port to ward off the cold. A screen displaying film clips of some very interesting footage relating to the wonderful world of old motorcycling rolled continuously throughout the evening. Further entertainment was supplied by fellow club members displaying musical and vocal talents in front of an enthusiastic crowd. A few drinks from “Ye-Olde Handle Bar” seemed to assist with loosening people up enough to encourage many a tall tale to be spun as the crowd huddled around the bonfires and reminisced on past experiences and events. After a hearty breakfast on Sunday morning a convoy of around 100 bikes set off on either the long or short routes, meeting up again at Leslie Park in Warwick for the smoko stop where the traditional pumpkin soup and lots of homemade goodies were on offer. Riders were given an extended stopover to enable them to have a look around the Jumpers & Jazz festival activities that were also being conducted in the park. A large number of festival patrons also took the opportunity to check out the old bikes. Back to Allora and following a BBQ lunch, trophies were presented, tents and campsites were packed up and everyone headed off home after a very enjoyable weekend.
