Old Bike Australasia

John Trease

- Kal Carrick

JOHN TREASE was a dedicated and very happy family man who with his wife Raelee created a warm and welcoming home where you would enjoy intelligent and broad conversation, tainted with his wicked sense of humour. As a kid he was an absolute bike nutcase and he died an absolute bike nutcase. We were in fact planning our next trip to Lake Gairdner just a few hours before he passed. Few knew the depth of his abilities and shelves of ideas that didn’t work but he persisted to fulfil his and others dreams. Among many things he designed and built was a V twin 200 hp bike engine for a client which set a world record at Bonneville. “Treasey” was the bloke who turned our motorcycle dreaming into metal and made our special engines a reality that we had the pleasure of racing and riding around and across Australia. His son Jack has been mentored by the master engineer and thankfully is showing great promise in becoming another “motorcycle eccentric” nut case just like his dad. John has been a dear and generous friend and will be sadly missed by his family, friends and colleagues.
