Illabo Speedway plans big for 2019
The go-ahead Illabo Speedway in the NSW Riverina is planning increased activity for Vintage bikes for 2019. Organiser Kerry Phelan says, “We have scheduled a 2-day meeting for March 9th & 10th with Sat 9th being a " Curtain Raiser" introduction to us running Vintage Solos & Sidecars (Under Motorcycling Australia Permits) for 2019, however depending on the ASRA and other vintage Bike Brigade support we get, we would then consider programming bikes as a stand alone meeting, but we would need the entrant numbers to make it worthwhile. “Then on the 17th & 18th August we have the inaugural 2 Day Vintage/ Classic Speedway Spectacular (the only full 2 day Vintage/Classic speedway meeting in Australia), our hope being to re-ignite the interest previously shown in the Vintage EKKA Spectaculars of the past. “At our meeting in October 2018 there was also a nice surprise from Jim Powell who came up from Bendigo, Victoria with his JAP 8/80 sidecar (featured in this issue of OBA), and with Joe Belling as passenger I took the opportunity to put in a few demo laps to promote the inclusion of Vintage Solos & Sidecars at future meetings”.
