I had a guy in the workshop recently who used to own a BSA Gold Star in the UK in the mid ‘60s. He said that he had always regretted selling it and when he saw mine in the workshop he almost bowed down to worship it! He took a few pics of the bike and then I said “hop on and I will take a pic of you sitting on it”. That just about blew him away! Then he asked, “would you start it up for me?” I answered, “Yep, no problem”. The Gold Star started up first kick and ran clean straight away. (It’s in full on Clubman’s trim) I rolled the throttle over on the big inch and a half GP carb for about 5 minutes and then shut it down. I don’t think I have seen someone so passionately excited for quite a while. He even said his wife and 43 and 39 year old kids would be excited for him! I was just impressed to make his day and also hear his reminiscing from the 1960’s. I was also impressed with the meeting and also the fact that my beloved BSA Gold Star started first kick!
