Dashing Dave

-

I would like to congratulate you for the article on Dave Basham in OBA 78. It was fantastic as I and many other young lads followed his riding in the mid ‘60s to his retirement and it was great to read many stories we did not know. The photos were fantastic; ‘Ah yes that style was defiantly Dave Basham’. I have thought of a few more brilliant people in the SA motor cycle scene that you might like to interview if they agree:

John Boulger: Speedway solos. John rode with the Aussie team in UK and was inducted into the Speedway Australia Hall of Fame in 2011.

Len Bowes: Speedway sidecar champion. Glen Dix (Dixy to many of us). Flag Marshall at Rowley Park Speedway and the Australian F1 Grand Prix in Adelaide amongst many other motoring events. His style was something out of the box and he was well known for the way he waved that chequered flag. This gentleman was and is still highly respected in the SA if not Australian motoring competition. I am sure he could relate many stories about his track activities. I believe he resides in Victor Harbor, South Australia.

Re this issue of OBA – I am reading the print off mine now so thanks again to you and your team.
