Ken’s VF750
Thank you for your article in OBA 78 on the Honda VF750F, it was very enjoyable. When released in 1983, I clearly remember looking at a new VF750F on display at Peter Stevens in Elizabeth Street Melbourne; quite a ground breaking design at the time. I also was at the 1983 Castrol 6 Hour race at Amaroo Park to see this model win the event. It is a great shame that Honda did not get their production processes and quality correct on their early V four models, giving them an infamous reputation for poor reliability.
I have also been fortunate to know Ken Wilson for many years and he is a true gentleman of the motorcycling fraternity. His immaculate VF750F, with matching Freddie Spencer replica Arai helmet, always drew plenty of attention when he was out
on rides and at classic motorcycle events. Ken’s great care of this classic motorcycle over its life certainly shows in your photos. Although poor health has now limited Ken’s riding, we are still in regular contact, especially during the MotoGP season when he very much enjoys watching the racing on TV including the incredible riding by young Marc Marquez on the latest Honda V four.
