The Red Dust Revival

Old Bike Australasia - - OUT’N’ABOUT -

Lake Perkolilli, 23km from Kalgoorlie and 640km from Perth, first hosted motor racing in 1914 in the most unlikely location for such pastimes. Remote as it was (and is) the meetings held from 1914 to 1939 drew big crowds, and a grandstand was constructed in the ‘thirties, transported from the Coolgardie Racecourse by camel train. In 2014, the centenary of the circuit was celebrated and it proved so popular that a return is scheduled for September 12-16, 2019, open to any pre-1940 car or motorcycle.
