Daytona steps in
Now available in Australia is the range of the famous Daytona boots, made in Germany since 1973 by the Frey family. Every year, around 70,000 pairs of hand-assembled boots leave the factory at Eggenfeldon, near Munich. The Daytona range changes little, as traditional styles are very popular and the hand assembly process means utmost attention to comfort, safety and long life. Daytona even offer a service to repair their boots; just send ‘em to the factory and they’ll come back to you as good as new. Australian importers Made in Germany Pty Limited, are bringing in a limited range of Daytona boots in both men’s and women’s styles, including the one featured here, the Arrow Sport GTX. This is a short (22cm) boot, which makes a lot of sense in our climate, but still offers all the features you’d want. In soft, water repellant cowhide, which is breathable thanks to the Gore-Tex climatic membrane, this model features a two-sided zip for easy fitting, with a PU foam sole. There’s ankle protection both sides with an inner sole that has a galvanised steel insert. I have a pair and they’re extremely comfortable and – a real plus – simple to get on and off thanks to the flapped front. In sizes 36-49, the Arrow Sport GTX has a rrp of $499.00.
