The Harley-Davidson Story
Tales from the archives By Aaron Frank ISBN: 978-0-7603-6071-2 Hardback 224 pages Published by Motorbooks Available from Pitstop Books (Item Code 51755) www.pitstop.net.au or call (02) 8445 2351 RRP: $59.95 Created with the cooperation of the HarleyDavidson Museum in Milwaukee, author Aaron Frank has delved deep into the archives to produce a unique publication, despite the plethora of books available on the subject. The cover depicts Otto Walker, one of the first riders to be signed for H-D’s famous ‘Wrecking Crew’ of 1914. Excellent original photography (including artifacts selected from the Museum) compliments historical photographs, with rare documentation, posters, brochures, and memorabilia through the pages. The storyline follows the company’s history and the developments and acquisitions, including the V-four Project Nova, Aermacchi, the sale and subsequent buy-back of the company from AMF, right up to the current investment in electric motorcycles, although the V-Rod receives but a scant mention.
