Restore & Ride Rally

Restore & Ride Rally Coffs Harbour & District Motorcycle Restorers Club

- Report Rob Popplewell Photos Nick Hiller

A clear and sunny autumn day saw the 35th rally get under way with over 70 entries. With the Bellinger River bridge now open after its year-long make-over, the infamous Yellow Rock Road could be used, as it also had a partial make-over and was now a benign scenic rural thoroughfare. This ride terminated at Sawtell RSL car park where the bikes were on display. Here Councillor Sally Townley chose Neil Parker’s 1935 O.K Supreme to be awarded the Mayor’s Trophy. She was impressed that the Supreme’s nice restoration had risen from boxes of parts. The main ride on Saturday followed a circuitous route to Stuart’s Point where CWA ladies provided the repast, then on to Taylors Arm via roads where the more modern oldies could blast the carbon from their mufflers. Lunch was at The Pub With No Beer while judges, Ned and Donny, cast critical eyes over the assembled bikes. On the return to Valla, Nick Hiller had a nasty spill that landed him in Coffs hospital. Nick’s home now and thanks all who enquired after his health. Sunday’s ride was a straight forward ride to Urunga, then via Waterfall way to Bellingen where the bikes were again on display at the Bellingen show.
