Island Classic turns 27
The 27th running of the southern hemisphere’s largest historic motorcycle meet, the International Island Classic, is set to return to Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit next Australia Day long weekend, January 24-26. There will also be an optional practice day on Thursday January 23rd. Start planning your summer getaway to Phillip Island for a historic celebration like no other. The Island Classic paddock is filled with people who are not only passionate about racing, but also engineering and history.
The 27th International Island Classic will feature a century of motorcycles from pre-war through to the new era machines, creating a motorcycle-lovers paradise over a massive three days.
“It is fantastic to see the International Island Classic gear up for its 27th year. We’re looking forward to confirming further event details in the coming weeks” said David Bennett, Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit General Manager. “We are anticipating around 500 entries and the classes will be Period 1 Veteran, Period 2 Vintage, Period 3 Classic, Period 4 Post Classic, Period 5 Forgotten Era, and Period 6 New Era. International Challenge planning is well underway with strong interest from the USA, Ireland and a “Rest of the World” team featuring Carl Cox Motorsport, to take on reigning champions Australia, who will be at full force. Negotiations continue with International Challenge teams and special guests with announcements to be made soon. Tickets will be on sale later in the year.”
